Well, if you attended the all-candidates debate hosted by the Ossington Village blog, you got quite a show. A good time was had by all. Or had by most, anyway.
You can view the video of the debate online. It’s not perfect, the bar’s lighting was inferior, but the audio came through pretty well. The trustee candidates gave speeches right at the beginning, but then most of the session was devoted to Q&A with the city council candidates. You can fast-forward to the 9-minute mark if you just want to hear me.
To make a short story even shorter, I was contacted by a parent yesterday who told me that her child had been set home from school with campaign literature for the incumbent trustee in this ward. These flyers were printed with public funds – with the trustee’s office budget – and distributed by school personnel.
This is a violation of TDSB policy, of provincial law, and of the ethical standards that one should uphold in any public office.
My ethics complaint as filed. The flyer in question.
I’ll have more on this in upcoming days, no doubt.
